Flooded Classroom !!

What a surprise when we showed up at school today we couldn't use the front door of our classroom because our classroom had flooded!! All the water that came out of the sky in the weekend must have blocked the drains and then it all came into our classroom! Room 7 was the worse hit they had water all over the floor. Ours only came in the door and along the wall....

 The man from the carpet cleaning place came with a big hose to suck all the water out with this really big vacuum cleaner that was just for sucking up water out of carpets.

 Our carpet is going to take a little while to dry out but that's ok, we can still do our work but we need to make sure we leave the windows open and the big blower machines on.

Working hard in Te Whare Maanaki

This term we have been working hard in Te Whare Maanaki. We have been learning about the different people of New Zealand, how they came here and what happened when they got here. It has been really interesting and informative. Mrs Wilton-Scott has learnt heaps too. 

This week we have been learning all about Taonga, and that everything around us is a treasure. We are beginning to understand that we need to make sure that we look after it, or we won't have it in years to come. 

 It is important that we look after our taonga because we have nowhere else to go if we don't. Earth is the only planet that humans can live on. We have also learnt that climate change has a big impact on our Earth. 

Water Fight !!!!

It was so much fun yesterday having an almighty water fight! There were water guns, waterslides, paddling pools, and the water table to have fun with. Mr Ohia set up the green screen and we could have our picture taken in front of a screen about water. 

Mrs Wilton-Scott had the hose and if we squirt her she would squirt us with the hose, she also made sure that no one squirted us when we were filling up our water guns. Some of the teachers had water guns and they were squirting us too. Miss Redman squirted lots of people and even went on the water slide! 

Athletics Day

Wow! What an awesome day for athletics. After all our practising we were able to put our skills to the test! We threw the vortex, and the put the shotput. We sprinted fast in the sprints and made sure that we paced ourselves when it came to the long-distance running. During High Jump, we threw our legs over the high jump bar with the greatest of ease as we scissor kicked our way to see who would could jump the highest!

Thank you to all the amazing parents that could take time off to watch us today. Thank you to all the teachers that ran all the events. We can't wait to see which of us are going to Interschool Athletics and which house group won the athletics day! Stay tuned...
